April 20, 2012
IRVING, Texas –University of Memphis golf team senior Jack Belote has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second-straight season, the league announced Friday. To be eligible, student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.2 GPA and compete in at least 75 percent of their team's scheduled tournaments, then are voted on by the league's sports information contacts for men's golf. Belote has maintained a cumulative 3.75 grade point average, with seven-straight semesters on the Tiger 3.0 honor roll. The Memphis native is also a four-time selection to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Medal lists. He has earned four Top 10 individual finishes this season and six Top 20 showings. His best performance of the season was a second-place finish at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate to lead the Tigers to a team victory. “Everything flows from faith in Christ for me,” Belote said. “My hard work on and off the course is motived by my faith in something a lot bigger than me.” The five golfers selected to the All-Academic Team are scheduled to compete in the 2012 C-USA Men's Golf Championship, which will be held April 22-24, at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark.
