April 20, 2013
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's golf team comes into the Conference USA Championships as the defending conference champion after capturing their first C-USA title a year ago at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark.
The 2013 C-USA Championships will once again take place in Texarkana, April 21-23, marking the fifth time in the last seven years the event has been held there. The Tigers have posted three top-three finishes in the four years at Texarkana.
Last season, Memphis edged three-time defending champion UCF by two strokes to earn an automatic berth to the NCAA postseason. Pearson and Milner are the Tigers' top returning finishers from last year's tournament as Pearson tied for 13th with a 3-over-par 219 while Milner carded a 6-over-par 222.
Senior Carlson Cox will get Memphis started tomorrow morning with an 8:50 tee time at hole 10 on the par 72, 6,935-yard course. Juniors Will Pearson and Grant Milner, Sophomore Cory Gaylord and freshman Thomas Perrot will also represent Memphis in the tournament.
