MEMPHIS, Tenn. -The University of Memphis golf team is set to compete in the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship on April 22-24 at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark. The winner of the championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.

The championship consists of 54 holes on the par 72, 6,935-yard course over three days. This is the fourth time in six years that the tournament has been hosted at Texarkana Country Club.

The Tigers nearly came away with last year's title, falling by just two strokes to eventual champion UCF. Memphis posted a 54-hole total of 864 (281-299-284) and was led by individual medalist Jonathan Fly (67-73-69--209) but the Knights' final round 280 (-8) was too much to overcome.

Competing for the Tigers will be Jonathan Fly, Jack Belote, Steve Lee, Grant Milner and Will Pearson. Fly has led the team in scoring this year, averaging 72.24 strokes per round in 10 tournaments. Fellow senior Jack Belote has also been consistent for the Tigers, holding a scoring average of 72.83. Belote was also named to the C-USA All-Academic Team for the second-straight season.

Memphis is coming off a second-place finish at the Memphis Intercollegiate on April 9-10. The Tigers fell just one stroke shy of eventual champion Kennesaw State and were led by a quartet of players that finished inside the top 20.

The championship is scheduled to being Sunday at 8 a.m. CDT with the second and third rounds to follow on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Live scoring of this year's Conference USA Men's Golf Championship will be provided by Golfstat. For more information about the championship, visit C-USA's Championship Central.
