Steve Lee Qualifies for FedEx St. Jude Classic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Steve Lee fired a 68 at Windyke Country Club’s east course to earn a spot in the 54th FedEx St. Jude Classic this week at TPC Southwind. Lee, who was among the five golfers that represented Memphis at the NCAA Central-Indiana Regional in May, made five birdies and one bogey in Sunday’s FedEx St. Jude Classic Open Qualifer. “We are very excited for Steve,” University of Memphis head coach Grant Robbins said. “This will be a great experience for him, and it will be great to see a lot of Tiger fans out there supporting him this week.” The FedEx St. Jude Classic kicks off tomorrow, June 6th, with the Danny Thomas Pro-Am event, with the tournament competition set to begin Thursday, June 9th. This year’s Classic has a star-studded field, including the No. 2 golfer in the world, Lee Westwood, as well as several former major champions: Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Vijay Singh, Zach Johnson, Geoff Ogilvy, Lee Janzen, Jose Maria Olazabal, Ben Curtis, Rich Beem, Y. E. Yang. Lee joins Andrew McClardy (Greensboro, N.C.), Clark Richardson (Southaven, Miss.), and Alejandro Aragon (San Diego, Calif.) as the four people to advance from Sunday’s open qualifier.
