MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis men's golf coach Grant Robbins announced Monday that Lee University transfer Florian Loutre will join the Tigers for the 2013-14 season.

A native of Le Mans, France, Loutre had an impressive freshman campaign for the Flames in 2013, winning the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament by five strokes with rounds of 70-67-70 for a 9-under-par 207. Following his performance at the SSAC Tournament, Loutre was named the NAIA National Men's Golfer of the Week. Lee also captured the conference title and went on to finish sixth at the NAIA National Golf Championship.

"We are looking forward to Florian joining the team this fall," Robbins said. "He had an up and down freshman season at Lee, but he is extremely talented and has the ability to make an impact for us this year. He has competed at the highest level of amateur golf in Europe and brings with him a great deal of international tournament experience."

Before arriving at Lee, Loutre advanced to match play at the 2012 British Amateur, and was the second-ranked junior in France and the 11th-ranked junior in Europe while at Le Bocage International School.

In 2011, Loutre medaled at the Italian Amateur and finished third in the European Boys Championship. He also posted top-20 finishes at the German Boys Championship and the Portuguese International Amateur Championship.

In 2010, Loutre took second at the French Amateur and finished fifth at the French Junior Tournament.

Loutre will be the third Frenchman on the Tigers' roster next season, joining senior Erwan Vieilledent (Mougins) and sophomore Thomas Perrot (Paris).
