Three Tigers Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. - The Golf Coaches Association of America announced that Tiger golfers Steve Lee, Grant Milner and Will Pearson were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars for the 2012-13 academic year. Lee earned the distinction for the second-straight season while Milner and Pearson were first-time honorees.

To be selected for the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university. A total of 152 golfers earned the honor in Division I.

Milner sported a 3.68 GPA in journalism-news this year, claiming the C-USA Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor as well as being named to the C-USA All-Academic Team, C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and being selected as a C-USA Academic Medalist. On the links, Milner led the Tigers with a 73.8 stroke average as Memphis advanced to its third-straight NCAA Regional. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Milner recorded five top-20 and four top-10 finishes, capturing the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate title last October with a 10-under-par 206.

Lee posted a 3.45 GPA for the 2012-13 year in physics and mathematical sciences, being named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. A native of Hendersonville, Tenn., Lee appeared in eight tournaments for the Tigers this season for a 75.5 stroke average. Lee notched three top-20 finishes during the year with his best outing coming at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate where he totaled a 3-over-par 219 to tie for 13th.

Pearson recorded a 3.21 GPA this year in marketing management to be selected to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. The Memphis native was second on the team with a 74.0 stroke average and led the Tigers with eight top-20 finishes. Pearson also totaled four top-10 showings, including two third-place finishes. Pearson led Memphis at the NCAA West Regional with a 3-under-par 213 to tie for 20th.

The Tigers begin the 2013 fall season Sept. 16-17 at the Columbia Regional Preview in Columbia, Mo.
