MEMPHIS, Tenn.--The University of Memphis golf team is set to host the sixth annual Memphis Intercollegiate this Monday and Tuesday at the par- 72 7,334-yard Colonial Country Club. After finishing third in 2007 and second in 2008, the Tigers look to claim victory this year for the first time since back-to-back victories in 2004 and 2005.

This year's Memphis Intercollegiate features a 16 team field, with seven currently ranked in Golfweek's top-100: Arkansas Sate (#87), Arkansas-Little Rock, Denver, Iowa State (#79), Louisville (#50), Louisiana-Lafayette (#84), Louisiana Tech, Maryland (#99), Memphis, Mississippi State, Ohio State (#53), Penn State (#67), South Alabama, Southern Miss, Wisconsin, and Xavier.

So far this season, the Tigers have been led by Auburn transfer Jonathan Fly. In three events, Fly has posted two top-10 finishes (T7 at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate and 10th at the Mason Rudolph Championship). Fly also finished T47 in Memphis' season opening event, the Golfweek Conference Challenge.

The Tigers finished second behind Ohio State in last year's rain shortened event. Then senior Jordan Payne led Memphis, shooting rounds of 73-72 in extremely windy conditions to finish fifth.

The Memphis Intercollegiate tees off Monday, October 19 at 8 a.m. The first and second rounds will be played Monday and will follow the shotgun format. The final rounds will be played Tuesday morning. Live scoring will be available for the event via www.golfstat.com
