MALIBU, Calif. - The University of Memphis men's golf team will make its second trip to California this fall to compete in Pepperdine University's Club Glove Intercollegiate on Monday. The Tigers took sixth place at Saint Mary's Poppy Hills Invitational in Monterrey last month before returning home to host the fourth annual Memphis Intercollegiate.
The Tigers have had three top-10 finishers in their first two fall tournaments. Ian Rochester took second place overall at Poppy Hills while Brandon Bunn and Robbie Greenwell finished fifth and ninth, respectively, at the Memphis Intercollegiate. Jordan Payne's 12th place finish at Poppy Hills gives Memphis four individual top-20 finishes.
Memphis will look to continue to improve through its fall schedule. The Tigers followed their sixth place finish in Monterrey with a fifth place performance at their home tournament.
The Club Glove Intercollegiate is a 54-hole event and will be played at Saticoy Country Club. Twelve teams will play 36 holes on Monday and finish the tournament with 18 holes Tuesday morning. In addition to Memphis and Pepperdine, the tournament field includes Colorado, Colorado State, Georgia State, Kansas State, Lamar, Loyola Marymount, LSU, Nevada, New Mexico and UC Santa Barbara.
