Tournament Information 
The University of Memphis men's golf teams goes out west this week to compete in the St. Mary's College Invitational, held at the historic par-72, 6,857 yard Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, CA. After finishing T7 at the Memphis Intercollegiate, the Tigers look to wrap up their fall season with a strong showing this week.
This year's St. Mary's College Invitational features a 16-team field: St. Mary's (#78), Cal Poly, Denver, Fresno State (#56), Loyola Marymount, Marquette, Memphis, Nevada (#76), Oregon State (#13), Pacific (#95), Portland, San Diego (#45), San Francisco, UC-Irvine (#79), UC-Santa Barbara, and Wisconsin.
Last year, San Francisco won the team event with a score of 855 (+3). Wisconsin was the runner up, five strokes back at 860 (+8). UC Santa Barbara finished in third with a total of 861 (+9). Domingo Jolojo of San Francisco captured medalist honors with a score of 207 (-6). Brian Harris of UC Irvine (208/-5) and Matt Grush of UC-Santa Barbara (211/-2) finished second and third, respectively.
The Tigers return to the event for the first time since 2007, when they finished T6 with team scores of 305-282-301. Memphis was lead by Ian Rochester, who fired rounds of 74-71-70 to finish second individually.
The Memphis lineup this week features five underclassmen, including three freshmen. Carlson Cox, Steve Lee, Lexus Keoninh , Jonathan Fly, and Jack Belote all look to have strong showings to finish off the fall season.
-Cox is competing in his fourth event for Memphis this fall. At the Memphis Intercollegiate, Cox competed as an individual, turning in scores of 76-72-71 for a career low finish of fourth.
-Lee makes his third appearance for the Tigers this fall. Thus far, Lee has turned in scores of 68-73-72 at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate to finish T21, and 76-71-73 to finish seventh at the Memphis Intercollegiate.
-Keoninh is coming off his best tournament as a Tiger at the Memphis Intercollegiate, where he posted rounds of 76-73-74 to finish 14th individually and lead the Tigers to a seventh place team finish.
-Fly has been Memphis's most consistent performer this season, competing in every event and posting two top-10 finishes. After posting back-to-back top 10's at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate (T7) and Mason Rudolph Championship (T10), Fly finished T32 at the Memphis Intercollegiate with rounds of 81-73-73.
-Belote is the only other Tiger besides Fly to have competed in every event this fall. He posted a low finish of T14 at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate with rounds of 70-70, and carded rounds of 81-78-72 to finish T50 at the Memphis Intercollegiate.
The 2009 St. Mary's College Invitational begins Monday, November 9 at 7:30 a.m. (PT) with a shotgun start. Teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
