The University of Memphis has begun the process to hire a new men's golf coach to replace Jim Cook, who died after more than 31 years of service to the institution's athletic department.

Associate athletic director Lynn Parkes, assistant athletic director Bob Winn and a representative of the University's Athletic Committee will serve as the search committee in seeking out candidates for the vacant coaching position. The committee will then recommend qualified candidates to the athletic director and the interview process will begin. Parkes will serve as chairman of the committee.

The men's golf team has completed its fall schedule and is not slated to play again until February 21, 2003, when the team will travel to Tampa, Florida, to take part it in the Ron Smith/South Florida Invitational.

When the position is advertised, interested candidates should contact the University of Memphis Human Resources department to apply.
