MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis men's golf head coach Grant Robbins has announced the signing of two student-athletes who will join the Tiger program next fall. France's Florian Loutre and Arkansas native Drew Greenwood have committed to don the blue and gray as freshmen in 2012-13. Loutre comes to Memphis from Le Mans, France, and College Le Bocaga where he is the second-ranked junior in the nation and the 11th-ranked junior in all of Europe according to europeangolfrankings.com. Loutre also finished second in the 2010 French Amateur and fifth in the 2010 French Junior. He joins fellow Frenchman Erwan Vieilledent on the Tigers' roster after choosing Memphis over Florida State, Tennessee and Kentucky, "Florian is an exceptional talent," said Robbins. "Being a part of the French Elite National team, he has experience playing against top level competition all over the world. He has the ability to go low and should have an immediate impact on our program." A three-time all-state selection from Hot Springs, Ark., Greenwood won the 2009 Arkansas 5A State Championship competing for Lakeside High School. His recent accomplishments include a 17th-place finish in the 2011 AJGA Hunter Mahan Invitational and a 23rd-place finish in the 2011 AJGA Signsational Junior Invitational. The three-time USJGT tournament champion also finished eighth in the 2010 Bubba Conlee National Junior Invitational. A two-sport athlete at LHS including varsity basketball, Greenwood chose Memphis over Houston and Ole Miss.
"Drew is a very talented player and a tremendous all-around athlete," said Robbins. "He has all the tools to develop into a very good college player." |
