Memphis Soccer Receives Preseason Honors

Junior forward Marks Sherrod was tabbed Conference USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday. Sherrod and junior midfielder Liam Collins were named to the 2012 Preseason All-C-USA Men's Soccer Team as voted on by the coaches. 2011 (Sophomore): Named All-Conference USA first team ... Ranked fourth in the nation in total assists (11) and assists per game (0.61) ... Led C-USA in assists and assists per game ... His 11 assists is the third-most in a season in schoolhistory, trailing Memphis Hall of Famers Dayton O'Brien (14 in 2004) and Rogerio Lima (12 in 1997) ... The team's second-leading scorer with 13 points ... Started all 18 contests, playing over 1,600 minutes ... Set up Mark Sherrod's game-winning goal in the season opener against Lipscomb ...
