Joshua Wood joined the University of Memphis athletic training staff prior to the start of the 2009-10 season as a graduate assistant.
Wood graduated Cum Laude from Troy University in Troy, Ala., with a Bacelor's of Science in Athletic Training where he was a Dr. James A. Whiteside Eminant Scholar recipient. Wood was certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) in June of 2009. While a student at Troy, Wood served an internship at The Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla. During his time at The Andrews Institute, he served rotations with their athletes' performance division, physical therapy department, was a minor assistant in surgery and job shadowed Dr. James Andrews.
Prior to arriving at the University of Memphis, Wood worked as a travelling staff member with the Universal Cheerleading Association in the summer of 2009. While with the Universal Cheerleading Association, Wood served as a medical staff member for several cheerleading camps.
In his first year at the U of M, Wood served as the athletic trainer for the men's soccer program. He will continue to serve in that role during the 2010 season.
