MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Taking on one of the best amateur teams from Ireland, the University of Memphis will host Portmarnock on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Admission to the spring exhibition is free.

Portmarnock earned a trip to the United States after winning its league championship, playing at the highest level in amateur soccer in Ireland. The team compares to the top amateur clubs in the states except that there is no age limit to compete as an amateur in Ireland.

"Portmarnock will bring a significant amount of experience into the competition," said Memphis head coach Richie Grant. "They are a talented team that will provide a quality test for us in the spring."

The Tigers are coming off a 2-0 loss to Major League Soccer's FC Dallas where Memphis showed potential. After Wednesday's game, the U of M will next compete in the Tim McCage Cup against Rhoads, CBU & Lambuth on Saturday, March 25. The Tigers will then play another Irish team in Colaiste Ide on Wednesday, March 29 and finish their spring competition by traveling to play the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS on April 2.
