Memphis Concludes Spring Season against USL Team
April 9, 2007 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's soccer team will conclude the spring season with an exhibition game against some of the best soccer players in the nation. Memphis will travel to Atlanta to face United Soccer League's Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m. This is the fourth straight year that Memphis has competed against a professional team during the spring season. Two former Tigers will have the opportunity to play against the school that led them to the professional level. Dayton O'Brien and Andy Metcalf are both on the Silverbacks roster and will have the chance to compete against the Tigers. In 2006, the Silverbacks finished eighth in the First Division, where they tallied 35 points in 28 games. They finished with a record of 10-13-5. The Silverbacks won three games at home and seven games on the road. Memphis head coach Richie Grant is looking forward to the opportunity to play against a team as great as the Silverbacks. Grant is looking forward to seeing O'Brien and Metcalf compete at the professional level.
