MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The 2004 Men's Soccer Silent Auction was held on Thurs., April 15, in the lobby of the Billy J. Murphy Athletic Complex at South Campus. With the collective support of U of M coaches, other athletic teams, Tiger soccer alumni, the entire University of Memphis Athletic staff and the U of M Soccer Supporter's Club, the event turned out to be a great success. Around $6,000 was raised in support of the U of M men's soccer program.

"The auction has become a nice event on our calendar every year," said head coach Richie Grant. "The money raised gives our program a chance to do different things."

Tommy West, Tiger football coach, was the event's guest speaker. "Coach West gave an inspirational speech," Grant said. "The players enjoyed listening to him and we appreciate him dedicating his time to for the evening."

Voice of Tiger football and basketball, Dave Woloshin, served as the emcee of the auction. "It was enjoyable to listen to Dave (Woloshin) and we appreciate him for promoting the auction on his radio show." Grant said.

Some of the top items sold at this year's auction were a game of golf with Tiger head coaches West and Grant. Also a soccer ball autographed by Frank Borghi and Gino Pariani, two members of the 1950 U.S. World Cup team and a USA Soccer jersey autographed by national team member Richard Mulrooney.
