Journal Entry 3 - Friday, April 28
Things got off to a good start this week with a 4-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday afternoon on ESPN2. Two teammates picked up awards from the league, with Aleko Escandarian picking up player of the week (2 goals against NY) and Facundo Erpen picking up goal of the week (35 yard bomb).
The Kickers, however, didn't fare as well as we lost 1-0. It was a tough loss as many of our guys didn't play well, including me. But I learned from it and moved on, and I didn't have to wait long. The reserves had our final friendly against a USL Division 2 team on Monday morning. We won 4-0, and I picked up an assist on the fourth goal.
The next day, I made my first appearance for D.C. United, going to an elementary school and reading to two kindergarten classes. It was a fun experience, and the kids were great!
We have since had a good few days of practice leading up to a massive game against FC Dallas, as both of us are in first place in our divisions and have identical 3-0-1 records. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night here in D.C. We reserves also begin our season Sunday morning against the FC Dallas reserves, so it will be important to start our season on a good note.
That's about all that's been going on here in the nation's capital, so until next time, have a great week and God Bless!
