MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Recent Memphis men's soccer graduate Parker Duncan is one of 12 recipients of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Award as announced by the Conference USA office in Irving, Texas. Duncan is the second men's soccer player in the last three years to have earned the honor, joining former teammate and 2010 recipient Rick Alleman.

The Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Award is named after Dr. Castañeda, who served as an educator, coach and faculty representative at Rice University for 46 years. The $4,000 scholarships are bestowed to one student-athlete from each C-USA institution as voted on by the Faculty Athletic Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.

Duncan is a four-year letterwinner for the U of M, playing in 69 matches for the Tigers with 60 starts, 15 goals and 13 assists. The Johnson City, Tenn., native earned CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Second Team honors in 2012, the highest academic achievement by a Tiger. He was also named CoSIDA All-District three times, NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-South Region once and C-USA All-Academic team three times during his career.
