@MemphisMSoccer Announces 2014 Schedule

MEMPHS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's soccer program and head coach Richard Mulrooney have announced the 2014 fall schedule.
The schedule will feature games against eight teams that finished 2013 in the top-60 of the RPI and three teams in the top-35, including an Oct. 4 home matchup against No. 16 UConn who advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinal in 2013.
"I feel as though our schedule for the fall has the right balance of teams outside our conference to challenge as well as prepare us for our in-conference games," said coach Mulrooney. "At the end of the day, our goal is to make the NCAA tournament and this slate of games gives us a great chance at achieving that."
The Tigers start the season with a preseason match at Louisville on August 18 before returning to Mike Rose Soccer Complex for a home preseason match against Christian Brothers University on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. CT.
The regular season starts with SIU-Edwardsville and the Tigers facing off at Mike Rose Soccer Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. CT. Alumni Weekend will feature the Tigers taking on the Billikens of Saint Louis, Saturday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. CT.
The Tigers will hit the road for the rest of the month, with road tournaments at SMU and Lipscomb and their first conference game of the year, against UCF Saturday, Sept. 27 at a yet to be determined time.
Memphis will return home to start October with a game against the 2013 NCAA Quarterfinalist UConn, with the game set for Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. CT. After a midweek road game against SMU on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Tigers will face the UCF Knights for a second time in 2014, with a home match Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. CT.
After a non-conference match at Oral Roberts Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Tigers will renew a conference match Tulsa for a Friday, Oct. 17 match at 6 p.m. CT. The Tigers will play their final home game of October when they battle Cincinnati, Wednesday Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. CT.
The final road game of the season will see the Tigers travel to South Florida to face the Bulls Oct. 25. Senior day will be against Temple on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. CT. The American Tournament will start a week later on Nov. 8.
