Sherrod Nets Preseason Honor

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- University of Memphis men's soccer player Mark Sherrod was recently named to the College Soccer News Preseason All-America second team by the online publication.

Sherrod finished the 2012 campaign recording 12 goals and four assists for 28 points. The Knoxville, Tenn., native earned numerous accolades including, among others, Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year, NSCAA All-Midwest first team honors and All-C-USA first team honors. Sherrod's C-USA Offensive Player of the Year nod was his second in a row, making him the only player in the league's history to win the award in back to back seasons.

Following his 2012 season performance, the senior forward also climbed up the list in two categories of the Tigers' record book. Sherrod now ranks fifth all-time with 35 career goals and is tied for sixth all-time with 80 career points.

The Tigers open the 2013 regular season on the road in Northridge, Calif. at the CSUN Labor Day Classic facing Cal State Fullerton on August 30, and Cal State Northridge on September 1. For more information on the University of Memphis men's soccer program and all Tigers athletics, please visit
