Men's Soccer Kicks off Camp
Aug. 16, 2010
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis' men's soccer team kicked off fall practice Monday, participating in drills and a short scrimmage in preparation of the 2010 season. A host of true freshmen (nine in all) and two transfers are enrolled at Memphis and participating in their first camp with the men's soccer program. Freshman Liam Collins, was delayed in his arrival to the Bluff City from Ireland and will arrive in camp Wednesday. Dennis Kennetz, Jr., who transferred from Gardner-Webb, is rehabbing an injury and will be limited to conditioning during camp but is expected not to miss a significant amount of regular season action. The keeper battle will be a dominant theme throughout camp, with true freshman Martin Hunter and redshirt sophomore Jordan Leedle battling to see who will open the season in the net. Both looked sharp during their first day camp. Below, head coach Richie Grant discusses his first-day impressions. Check back with gotigersgo.com often for more men's soccer updates and videos.
