Tiger's Men's and Women's Soccer Squads Set For Action
Aug. 23, 2002 Memphis, Tenn.-- The University of Memphis men's soccer team will conclude its exhibition season, while the women's soccer team gets its first taste of action Saturday night at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The Lady Tigers will jumpstart their season, in the only tuneup before regular season play, with the annual Alumni Game at 5 p.m., followed by the men's exhibition finale against the University of Evansville at 7 p.m. The men, who opened the season Wednesday evening with a 4-1 win against cross-town rival Christian Brothers, are just two wins shy of the 200-win plateau and look to enter the regular season on a positive note. Memphis is 0-4-1 against the Purple Aces with matches dating back to 1987.
The men will open their regular season schedule at home against Conference USA foe TCU on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. at the MRSC. The women's team will open their season on the road when they travel to Boca Raton to face Florida Atlantic Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
