The Memphis Tigers (1-1-0) play host to the UMKC Kangaroos (0-0-1) in the 2013 home opener on Friday night at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

This is the first game of the 2013 Memphis/UCA Classic. UMKC and Oral Roberts will play at Memphis and at Central Arkansas this weekend.

The Tigers enter the game off of a second-place finish at the Ryan Rossi Memorial Tournament in Northridge, Calif. last weekend. Memphis opened the season with a 1-0 over Cal State Fullerton. Senior midfielder Shane Keely scored the game-winning goal on a free-kick in the 73rd minute.

In Sunday's tournament finale, the Cal State Northridge Matadors defeated the Tigers 4-1. Mark Sherrod, Austin Stone and Keely were selected to the Best XII All-Tournament Team.

UMKC opened the season with a 1-1 draw at home against Wisconsin on Aug. 31. The 'Roos are led by forward Jordan Rideout, who was selected as the preseason WAC Offensive Player of the Year. UMKC has a 2-1 advantage over Memphis in the all-time series.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Friday night. Admission is FREE for all fans. The University of Memphis women's soccer team will be hosting a free clinic before the game at 6 p.m.
