Sept. 12, 2013
The Memphis Tigers (3-1-0) take on the ETSU Buccaneers (1-1-1) in Birmingham, Ala. on Friday afternoon. This is the first game in the 2013 "Soccer For a Cure" Classic hosted by UAB. Money raised in the tournament will be given to cancer reserach facilities in Birmingham and the surrounding area. This is the fifth consecutive year that Memphis has participated in this event.
The Tigers are coming off of a 2-0 weekend, defeating UMKC and Oral Roberts at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. In Friday's 1-0 victory over UMKC, freshman defender Jordan Klipsch scored the game-winning goal off of a corner kick from Simon Estornel. The kick went to the back post where Spencer Moeller was able to head the ball back to Klipsch who finished for the goal.
In Sunday's game, another freshman, Hunter Danna, scored boath goals in the 2-1 comeback win over Oral Roberts. Danna scored both goals in the second half for the victory.
Kickoff for Friday afternoon's contest against ETSU is at 4:30 p.m. at West Campus Field on the UAB campus.
