Men's Soccer Gears up for Two Non-conference Battles this Weekend
Sept. 26, 2002 MEMPHIS, Tenn.- - Due to current and forecasted weather conditions in Bowling Green, Ky., the University of Memphis men's soccer match with Western Kentucky, originally scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at WKU Soccer Complex. Following Saturday's match with WKU, the Tigers will travel to Nashville for a non-conference match-up with Vanderbilt on Sunday at 2 p.m. Memphis, which is in the midst of a nine-game road trip, sports a 4-2-1 record entering the weekend, but has struggled on the road. During this road swing the Tigers are 1-2-1 and are winless in the last three matches. Western Kentucky, who defeated the Tigers 1-0 in the last meeting between the two teams, enters the match with a mark of 5-2-1 after a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Louisville. Vanderbilt brings a 1-6 record to the game, with six consecutive losses. The Commodores offense has struggled so far this season, scoring just four goals, while giving up 21. Memphis handed Vany a 4-1 defeat in last year's match.
U of M will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Chicago to take on C-USA opponent DePaul at 2 p.m. The Tigers do not return to the confines of the Mike Rose Soccer Complex until Saturday, October 19, when they host Louisville at 3 p.m.
