Tiger Soccer Wins Reebok/USF Classic, Has Four Named To All-Tournament Team

TAMPA, Fl. - The University of Memphis finished first in the Reebok/ USF Classic by defeating South Florida and Stetson University on the weekend.
Memphis had four players named to the all-Tournament team, including the Tourney MVP, junior midfielder Justin Stralka. Stralka had one goal and one assist on the weekend. The three other Tigers honored were Stephen Lewis, Grant Paule, and Chris Schmidt. Lewis, a defender and co-captain of the Tigers, had one assist from his position as left defender. Grant Paule, a freshman midfielder, tallied a goal and an assist, as well. Sophomore defender Chris Schmidt scored a game-winning goal in extra time do defeat South Florida and assisted on another goal against Stetson.
The winning weekend raised the Tigers record to 7-3 on the season, and matched the total number of wins from the 1999 season. Memphis returns home this weekend after nearly a month on the road to host C-USA rival Louisville, who has also started out 7-3 this season. The Tigers are 2-1 in conference play, while the Cardinals begin conference play this Wednesday against Marquette.
