MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis men's soccer team is heading to Hoover, Ala., to square off in a Conference USA match against UAB. Both teams come into the contests on three-game win streaks.

Memphis (8-3-1, C-USA 2-2-0) is off to one of the best starts in recent years, behind the play of sophomores Mark Sherrod, Liam Collins, and Conor Hurley. Sherrod is one of the country's best goal-scorers. He ranks second, nationally, in goals and third in goals per game, points and points per game. Collins joins Sherrod in the national ranks in both assists (3rd) and assists per game (2nd).

Goalkeeper Conor Hurley is riding a three-game, 277-minute shutout streak, thanks in part to sensational-defensive play from the Tigers' backline of senior Thomas Shannon, juniors J.J. Greer and Jordan Johnson and freshman Chandler Gagnon. On the season, Hurley and the Tigers have posted five shutouts.

UAB (8-3-2, C-USA 2-1-0) enters the game on the heels of a 1-0 defeat of then-No.8 UCF. Babayele Sodade scored the game-winner for the Blazers in the 65th minute. Carl Woszczynski earned the shutout.

The match-up will pit the reigning C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, Sherrod, against the reigning C-USA Defensive Player of the Week, Woszczynski. Sherrod earned the award after posting back-to-back hat tricks in wins against Nebraska-Omaha, 5-0, and at Tulsa, 3-0. Woszczynski collected the honor after recording consecutive shutouts of American, 2-0, and then-No. 8 UCF, 1-0.

While the game is considered a home match for UAB, the contest will be held at Regions Park Stadium in Hoover, Ala., the host site for the 2011 Men's College Cup. This marks the first time in the stadium's history that it will be used for a soccer match. Regions Park Stadium is home of the Birmingham Barons, a Double-A Minor League Baseball team. Over 3,000 fans are expected to attend the soccer match in preparation for the College Cup. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.
