Men's Soccer Places Two on CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team
Nov. 1, 2007
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine 2007 Academic All-District men's soccer teams were released today, and included on the District 4 First Team are Memphis defender Robert Sausaman and forward Jared Britcher. Their nomination to the all-district team automatically qualifies both athletes for the Academic All-America ballots to be cast next week and released later this month. In his third year at the University of Memphis, Sausaman has compiled a 3.82 grade point average while working toward a finance degree. Sausaman has made the Tiger Academic 30 (a list of the 30 Tiger student-athletes with the highest GPAs) each semester during soccer season and is yet to miss a semester on the Dean's List. Named an Academic All-American last year, Sausaman has been vital to the success of a stingy Tiger defense this season that has allowed only 15 goals in 16 matches. Britcher will graduate this May with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science and currently holds a 3.68 GPA. The two-time Academic All-American has made the Dean's List four semesters, twice with a 4.0, and though he missed last night's win over Alabama A&M with a fractured facial bone, Britcher leads the Tigers with 15 points--five goals and five assists.
