Sherrod Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
Nov. 1, 2012 MEMPHIS, Tenn.- University of Memphis men's soccer player Mark Sherrodwas named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday. The team was voted on by the CoSIDA membership recognizes top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Sherrod currently leads the Tigers in goals (10) and points (24), while sporting a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.48 majoring in civil engineering. This is the second-straight year that the Knoxville, Tenn., native was named to the team. Sherrod's many academic and athletic and academic honors while donning the Blue and Gray include, among others, being named to the 2011 NSCAA All-America third team, 2011 CoSIDA Academic All-America third team, 2011 NSCAA All-Midwest Region first team, 2011 Conference USA Player of the Year, 2011 C-USA Offensive Player of the Year, 2011 All-C-USA first team and the 2011 C-USA All-Academic Team. Memphis (7-6-3, 3-2-2 C-USA) wraps-up its regular season schedule with a league bout against No.14 SMU on Friday at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The game will be televised as the FOX Soccer Channel NSCAA Game of the Week, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. (CT). Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Mid-South Food Bank.
