C-USA Men's Soccer All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas-Andreas Guentner and Mark Sherrod each were named to the Conference USA Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team the league announced on Thursday. This season Memphis was among four member schools to produce two selections to the team.

This season Guentner started al l 16 matches he played and served as a team captain for the second year in a row. The Regensburg, Germany native carries a 3.90 GPA majoring in international business.

Guentner has twice received the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal (2012, 2011) and has been named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll three times (2010, 2011, 2012).This is the third time Guentner has received C-USA All-Academic honors.

During the 2012 campaign, Sherrod was the Tigers’ leading scorer tallying 12 goals, four assists and 28 points. The Knoxville, Tenn., native carries a 3.48 GPA majoring in civil engineering.

Sherrod has been honored several times for his academic efforts being selected 2011 CoSIDA Academic All-America third team, twice selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team (2012, 2011) and making the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll three times (2010, 2011, 2012). This is the second time Sherrod has been named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
