MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Senior forward Mark Sherrod was named a 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire Third Team All-America selection, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on Friday morning.

The Knoxville, Tenn. native becomes the first Memphis men’s soccer student-athlete to earn all-America selections in multiple seasons. Sherrod was also named an NSCAA All-America Third Team selection and a College Soccer News All-America Third Team member after the 2011 season.

Former Memphis standout Dayton O’Brien (2002-05) is the only other Tiger to be named an NSCAA All-American, earning NSCAA Second Team All-America honors in 2004.

Sherrod finished his 2013 season with seven goals and 16 points. After leading the team in goals and points, Sherrod was named a First Team All-American Athletic Conference selection and an NSCAA All-Midwest Region First Team selection.

Sherrod was one of just three American Athletic Conference men's soccer student-athletes to earn NSCAA all-America honors this season. The Connecticut duo of Andre Blake (GK-First Team) and midfielder Adria Beso (Second Team), were the other two from The American to be recognized.

Sherrod ends his Memphis career ranked third in program history in goals with 42 and points with 96. He also earned accolades for his work in the classroom as well, becoming a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the third consecutive year.

Earlier this week, Sherrod became the first Tiger to earn an invitation to the 2014 Adidas MLS Player Combine. The event takes place Jan. 10-14, 2014 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and leads up to the 2014 MLS SuperDraft on Jan. 16 in Philadelphia.
