Men's Tennis -- 2014 NCAA First Round (Urbana, Ill.)

Spring 2014: Joined the Memphis roster in January of 2014 after graduating from Alabama in May of 2013 with a degree in Finance and Economics...Played in all 21 matches this spring, sporting a 12-10 overall record in singles and a 19-2 overall mark in doubles play...Has teamed with Johnny Grimal for a 16-1 mark in doubles play at No. 3 and 19-1 overall in doubles play...Is also 3-0 at No. 4 singles and 8-8 at No. 5...Went 2-0 in doubles play in the Tigers' NCAA tournament run and was 1-1 in singles play, including a 6-2, 6-2 win over Illinois' Alex Jesse at No. 5 for one of the Tigers' two singles victories in the NCAA Second Round ... His 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 5 at No. 61 San Diego clinched a 4-3 road win for the Tigers and third place in the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Spring Classic...Was undefeated in the American Athletic Conference tournament, picking up a 6-2, 6-4 win over SMU at No. 5 and coming back from a 6-0 first set loss in the championship match against USF to win in three sets, 0-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5...Was also perfect in doubles play in the conference tournament with an 8-5 win over SMU and an 8-1 win over USF.

At Alabama: Played two seasons for Alabama, missing a third due to a foot injury...Was an SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree...Was 9-8 in doubles as a sophomore with a 2-1 mark against ranked opponents, including a win over the No. 48 ranked team of Adam Baker and Ryan Lipman of Vanderbilt, 8-4, at the Southern Intercollegiates...As a freshman, won six singles matches, four against SEC opponents, and had five doubles victories...Capped his Alabama career with 14-14 mark in doubles and a 14-28 mark in singles...Spent one year serving an internship with Media America in Nashville.

Prep: Was ranked No. 6 in the Southeast Region and No. 10 overall in the class of 2009 by TennisRecruiting.net...Won two USTA Southern Championships, along with the 2008 18s Southern Closed Doubles title...Won the 2008 National 18's Spring Championship in Doubles...Represented the USTA Southern Section for three seasons at national team competitions...Won the Tennessee High School State Championship in Division I AAA as a freshman, sophomore and junior...Named the Boys Tennis Player of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2009 by The Tennessean.

Personal: Birthday is April 2...Son of Glen and Paula Chadwell...Has one sister, Kaylene, who plays tennis at Chattanooga.
