Men's Tennis Continues Success at USF Spring Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. - The Memphis men's tennis team secured three more singles victories and one more doubles win on Saturday at the USF Spring Invitational against Conference USA rival UCF. Jordan Smith, a junior from Memphis, Tenn., improved to 2-0 in the tournament, while Smith and doubles partner David Henry also picked up their second win of the weekend. In singles, Michael Hayes upended UCF's Johan Beigart, 6-3, 6-4, to improve to 1-1 on the weekend. The senior from London, England, was competing at the No. 4 singles position for the Tigers on Saturday. His opponent, Beigart, went 11-8 at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 spots for the Knights last season. Michael Gaerthoeffner upended UCF's Blaze Schwartz, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 6 singles position. Schwartz went 15-6 at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots last season. Smith defeated Eugene Dolgovykh, 6-3, 6-2, on Saturday, at the No. 7 spot. In doubles, Smith and Henry took down the No. 1 duo of Marc Rocafort and Schwartz, 8-5. Memphis will wrap up the weekend with matches against opponents from No. 56 Radford. Saturday Results Singles
