Smith, Henry Finish USF Spring Invitational with Unblemished Record
Jan. 19, 2010 TAMPA, Fla. - The Memphis men's tennis team wrapped up the USF Spring Invitational in Tampa, Fla., with three more singles wins and two more doubles wins over No. 56 Radford. The doubles pair of Jordan Smith and David Henry wrapped up the weekend going a perfect 3-0. Smith and Henry upended Radford's No. 1 duo of Ivan Salec and Zack Watson, 8-5. Ivan Salec put up a 16-2 record with Mehdi Banhammou at the No. 2 position. In singles, Henry, a sophomore from Signal Mountain, Tenn., defeated Mike Johnson, 6-3, 2-6, 10-3. Henry finished the weekend with a 1-2 mark. The Tigers also picked up a singles win from Charlie Ramsay at the No. 4 position. The Memphis senior upended Watson, 6-4, 6-4. Ramsay wrapped up the weekend with a 1-2 singles record. At No. 6 singles, Michael Gaerthoeffner defeated Erik Finkenbrink, 6-3, 6-2. Gaerthoffner went 2-1 on the weekend. The Tigers will return to the court on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23, when they face-off with Tulsa and Oklahoma State in Tulsa, Okla. USF Spring Invitational Singles
