ATLANTA - -
The University of Memphis men's tennis team went 8-1 on their second day of the MLK Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech, Sunday.
The Tigers started the day by sweeping three doubles matches against host Georgia Tech. Seniors David O'Leary and David O'Hare then picked up straight set wins for their first singles wins of the spring before Georgia Tech's claimed a three-set win for their lone match win of the day.
Johnny Grimal, Joe Salisbury and Connor Glennon grabbed the next three Memphis wins to close out the day, but not before each of the three dropped his first set and had to bounce back to win the match in three sets. Grimal won his match, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, followed by Salisbury's second singles win of the spring, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Glennon closed out the afternoon with his first singles win of the spring, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Memphis will close out the MLK Invitational, Monday, at 9 a.m. The Tigers will be facing players from No. 11 Ole Miss in the third round of singles and doubles.
