TULSA, Okla.--The University of Memphis (1-1, 0-1) rallied back from a 6-1 loss to No. 35 Tulsa in the season opener Friday to pick up a big win against No. 47 Oklahoma State (0-1) on Saturday at Tulsa's Case Tennis Center in a 5-2 decision.

The Golden Hurricane (3-2, 1-0) handed the Tigers a conference loss in a 6-1 decision, with the only point coming from freshman Johnny Grimal's 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) defeat of Tristan Jackson at the No. 5 singles spot. However, the Tigers wouldn't stay down for long.

On Saturday, against the Cowboys, No.1 doubles wrapped up first, when the 52-ranked tandem of David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury fell to the talented, ninth-ranked OSU duo, Aleksey Bessonov and Rifat Biktyakov, 8-6.

The doubles point was up for grabs after redshirt junior Leon Nasemann and senior John Taylor pulled out the 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles and Memphis netters capitalized, seizing the early 1-0 lead following a clutch 9-8(10-8) effort from senior Jordan Smith and junior David Henry at the No. 2 slot.

Singles wins by Taylor at No. 6, Henry at No.1, Salisbury at No. 2 gave Memphis a 4-2 edge and Nasemann's 6-7(4), 7-6(5) 7-5, victory over Bessonov at the No. 4 position would seal it for the Tigers.

Next up for the U of M is Tennessee Tech, slated for Friday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at home at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
