Tiger Tennis Drops Spring Season Opener

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team opened a difficult season-opening road trip with a 7-0 loss at No. 41 Tennessee, Friday. The Tigers battled, but came up short in doubles play, with two ranked Tennessee tandems claiming wins at the top two spots, while the Tiger team of Spencer Heflin and Garrison Pilant battled, but fell just short in an 8-6 loss at No. 3 doubles. In singles play, sophomore Benedikt Fischer dropped his first set, 6-3, to No. 24 Bobby Cameron, but forced a tiebreaker in the second set, coming just short, 7-6, in the matches' deciding match. Junior Jimmy Khougassian also forced a second set tiebreak, falling 7-6 after dropping his opening set 6-1 to Kiril Tchereniachki. The Tigers will wrap up the road trip at No. 63 ranked Vanderbilt, Sunday. Singles Doubles
