No. 18 Men's Tennis Defeats Chattanooga, 7-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (2-1) defeated Chattanooga (1-2) in the first match of a doubleheader for the Tigers, 7-0, Friday afternoon at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
Memphis took the lead early as they swept all three doubles matches against Chattanooga. David O'Leary took over duties for senior David O'Hare as he teamed up with Joe Salisbury at No. 1 to give the Tigers their first doubles point of the afternoon with a win over Jorge Varon and John Peacey, 6-1.
Connor Glennon and Cedric De Zutter defeated Gino Delavalle and Pavels Grigorjevs at No. 2 (6-1) to clinch the doubles point for the Tigers. Johnny Grimal and Ian Chadwell finished off the doubles matches at No. 3 with a win over Luke Saunders and Austin Boaz, 6-2.
Memphis was able to hold off Chattanooga as the Tigers dropped just one set in singles on the afternoon. No. 56 Joe Salisbury gave the Tigers their first singles point with a win over Pavels Grigorjevs (6-4, 6-1) at No. 2. David O'Leary followed up at No. 4 with a win over Gino Delavalle, 6-1, 6-3. Ian Chadwell clinched the match for the Tigers with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Derrick Brown.
No. 49 Connor Glennon held off to defeat Jorge Varon, 6-3, 6-4. Cedric De Zutter was also able pick up a win as he defeated John Peacey, 6-3, 6-2. No. 87 Johnny Grimal, after dropping his first set, was able to come through in the third set to defeat Luke Saunders, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Memphis will play its second match of its doubleheader against Murray State at 7 p.m. (CT) at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
