Men's Tennis Improves to 2-0

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team improved to 2-0 with another 6-1 victory, this one over Oral Roberts. Memphis swept the three doubles matches to jump out to a 1-0 start, then claimed five of the six singles matches, led by freshman Matt Brewer's 2-6, 7-6, 6-0 win over Tyrone Hill at No. 1 singles. Michael Jetter and Bryan Bankester were the lone Tigers to win their respective singles matches in straight sets, as Jetter downed Cuan Farquharson, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 while Bankester downed Antonio Salopek, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5. Senior James Spence and freshman Tezar Putra needed three sets to pick up their singles wins, with Spence downing Alex Dargel, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3, while Putra downed Clemons Geercken, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.
