Men's Tennis Uses Depth to Sweep Southern Illinois, 4-0

The University of Memphis men's tennis team used the depth of its lineup to sweep a non-conference match from Southern Illinois, Friday afternoon. The Tigers, ranked No. 31 in the country in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, jumped out to a quick start with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles from Connor Glennon and Cedric de Zutter, followed by an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles from Joe Salisbury and David O'Leary to go up 1-0 in the match. Glennon made is 2-0 Memphis with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, and the two Davids closed out the victory. David O'Hare downed his opponent at No. 5, 6-0, 6-2, then David O'Leary followed, with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles to close out the match. With another Tigers' non-conference match on the slate for this evening, the remaining matches were not completed. The Tigers host Murray State at 7 p.m. Friday at The Racquet Club of Memphis in their second match of the day. Admission is free. No. 31 Memphis 4, Southern Illinois 0 Match Notes:
