Men's Tennis Sweeps C-USA Opener

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (2-3, 1-0) snapped a three-match losing streak with a 7-0 win in their Conference USA opener at Saint Louis, Sunday. The Tigers opened the meet by sweeping the doubles point. The No. 12 ranked team of Ben Stapp and Lee Taylor Walker handily downed the duo of Ikaika Jobe and Tom de Larzac, 8-2. Memphis also posted wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Memphis then went on to sweep the six singles matches, with Stapp and freshman Brendan Malarkey needing three sets to close out their matches. The Tigers have a 19-day hiatus from competing while The Racquet Club of Memphis hosts the Kroger/St. Jude men's and women's tennis tournaments. The Tigers will resume their schedule Feb. 28-Mar. 2nd at the Inner Conference Tournament in Tampa, Fla.
