Men's Tennis Sweeps Weekend Wins

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (5-2) picked up a pair of non-conference home wins this weekend.
The Tigers opened the weekend with a 6-1 win versus a Nicholls State team that came in to the match with a 5-1 overall record. Memphis swept the doubles point, then used wins at No. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles to close out the 6-1 victory.
Against Belmont, the Tigers came out and again won all three doubles matches to go up 1-0 early in the contest. From there, the Tigers swept all six singles matches to earn their fifth win of the season.
Memphis will venture west to California for a pair of non-conference matches, beginning with a match at San Diego, Friday. While in San Diego, Memphis will then face San Diego State, Sunday at noon (PT).
Those two matches will be the first of five straight road contests for the Tigers. The slate includes matches at Ole Miss (Feb. 27), at Oklahoma State (Mar. 6) and at Oklahoma (Mar. 8).
