Men's Tennis Falls at San Diego State, 5-2

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - - The University of Memphis men's tennis team got singles victories at No. 2 and 4 singles in a 5-2 loss at No. 50 San Diego State, Saturday. The match, which was moved up from Sunday due to rain in the San Diego area, opened with San Diego State winning No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to go up 1-0 early in the match. Memphis quickly answered back with a 6-4, 6-2 win from Michael Gaerthoeffner at No. 4 singles, before San Diego State used a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles to go up 2-1 early. Another straight set win at No. 5 singles pushed San Diego closer to match point, and a 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles to clinch the match. With the match decided, San Diego State added another point with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 win at No. 1 singles before Memphis rallied back with a second point at No. 2 singles as Leon Nasemann bounced back from a 6-4 first set loss to win the second and third sets 6-3, 7-5. The Tigers will return home and then will load up for a road match at No. 5 Ole Miss, Wednesday. No. 50 San Diego 5, Memphis 2 Singles
