Men's Tennis Falls 5-2 to Rice
March 8, 2011 HOUSTON, Texas--Struggles on the road continued for the Memphis men's tennis program as it dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 33 Rice on Tuesday afternoon at the Galleria Athletic and Tennis Club. The Tigers (8-5, 1-3 C-USA) took a 1-0 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Joe Salisbury and David O'Hare knocked off Christian Saravia and Isamu Tachibana 8-4 and Leon Nasemann and John Taylor rolled past Peter Frank and Jonathan Chang 8-3. The Owls (10-3, 2-0 C-USA) would rally back in singles play to take five of six flights and the match. David Henry would be the only Tiger to record an individual point at the No. 5 slot with a straight-set defeat of Christian Saravia 7-5, 6-2. O'Hare and Salisbury put up good fights, but fell at the top two positions respectively in third-set tiebreakers. Memphis will look to stop its skid in New Orleans, La., against Tulane. The conference match is slated for Friday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
