Men's Tennis Braves Cold and Wind in 6-1 Win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (8-6, 1-3 C-USA) braved 57 degree weather and gusty winds in a 6-1 win over Indiana State (1-6), Tuesday afternoon, at the HPER Courts at the U of M.
Junior Mark Finnegan then put the first singles match in the books, with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Linde, while senior Lee Taylor Walker followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 over Andrey Kumantsov.
When junior Alex Bucewicz closed out his No. 3 singles match with a 6-0, 6-4 win over R.J. Nagel, the Tigers' sealed the victory, then earning additional points with wins at No. 2 and 4 singles. Indiana State's Aaron Phillips picked up the Sycamores' only point of the match with a come back 3-6, 7-6, 10-6 victory over Sam Withell at No. 5 singles.
Memphis will remain in town to face C-USA foe Charlotte, Wednesday, beginning at 1 p.m., before heading back to Texas to face No. 6 Rice, Virginia Tech and No. 65 Texas Tech. Memphis was ranked No. 75 in the country in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, released, Tuesday.
Indiana State will continue on their south-bound roadtrip to face the University of New Orleans, Wednesday, at 2 p.m.
