Men's Tennis Downs Tulane
March 10, 2011 NEW ORLEANS--The Memphis men's tennis team downed Tulane by a 6-1 mark on On Thurssday at the Goldring Tennis Center, ending a three-match skid for the Tigers and handing the Green Wave it's third conference loss of the season. Memphis (9-5, 2-3 C-USA), which fell from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings in the latest polls released March 8, recovered from an 8-5 loss at No. 1 doubles to clinch the doubles point with wins at the second and third slots. Freshmen Joe Salisbury and David O'Hare knocked off Adam Bernsteizand and Rodrigo Rappaccioli, 8-4, before Leon Nasemann and John Taylor defeated Holger Norregaard and Takuma Ohashi 8-6 to put the U of M up 1-0. The Tigers kept up the momentum in singles play, cleaning up at the No. 2-6 positions. Salisbury clinched the victory for the Blue and Gray with a 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 victory at the No. 2 slot. The Green Wave (5-6, 0-3 C-USA) picked up its point at the top flight, where 89th-ranked Idan Mark upended O'Hare 7-6 (7-0), 6-3. In their fourth and final outing of the road-stand, the Tigers will play Radford on Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m. CT in a non-conference, neutral-site dual match before returning to the Bluff City.
