Men's Tennis Falls to No. 65 Texas Tech, 4-1

HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (9-7, 2-3 C-USA) won the No. 1 singles and doubles matches, but could not hold off No. 65 Texas Tech (8-3), in non-conference action Friday morning. The Tigers won the No. 1 doubles match when Lee Taylor Walker and James Spence won match, 9-8. But Texas Tech used 8-6 and 8-5 wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, respectively, to pick up the win. Walker scored Memphis' only point of the morning with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles, but Texas Tech answered back with wins at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles to decide the match, 4-1. Next up for the Tigers will be host Rice University, Saturday, at noon. The Owls are ranked No. 6 in the country in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll.
