No. 30 Tigers Take Out In-State-Foe Middle Tennessee, 6-1
March 24, 2012 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis, ranked 30th in the nation, defeated Middle Tennessee, 6-1, on a sunny-Saturday afternoon at The Racquet Club of Memphis. With the victory, Memphis improves to 13-3 on the year and Middle Tennessee falls to 8-6. David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury broke Middle Tennessee's Yannick Born and Marlon Brand twice en route to an 8-4 win for the Tigers. Moments later, Johnny Grimal and Leon Nasemann finished Ettore Zito and Matthew Langley, 8-4, securing the doubles point for the U of M. David Henry and Connor Glennon went to a tie-break with Christoph Lang and Ben Davis, before falling, 8-7 (7-5), to round out doubles play. Grimal started the Tigers off in singles play with a win over Lang, 6-3, 6-1, in the number two singles match. The U of M earned its third point with a Glennon win against Zito, 6-0, 6-4. Memphis claimed the match when freshman David O'Leary defeated Pippos with a decisive, 6-0, 6-3, win. O'Leary is now a perfect 15-0 on the season and ranked 108th in the country. Joe Salisbury claimed a, 6-4, 7-5, win over Langley and Leon Nasemann survived a lengthy three-set match against Forrest Edwards. The Tigers lone blemish on the day came at No. 1 singles, where David O'Hare fell to Ben Davis.
