Irvine, Calif.-- - The University of Memphis men's tennis team (8-6, 1-2) advanced to the second round of the 22nd Annual Anteater Classic, with a 6-1 win over Northern Arizona, Thursday.

The Tigers won five of the six singles matches and all three doubles matches to advance to the second round where they will face Tennessee Tech, Friday, at 9 a.m. Tennessee Tech received a first-round bye in the tournament.

No. 1 -- Stapp/Todd (UM) def. Venturi/Johnson, 8-6
No. 2 -- Schmulian/Chamberlain (UM) def. Volkov/Cisneros, 8-6
No. 3 -- LaHaie/Jamie Adams (UM) def. Lindsrom/Karlsson, 8-2
