Irvine, Ca. - Memphis whipped Southern Mississippi, 5-2, to claim the championship of the 23rd Annual UC-Irvine Anteater Classic Saturday in Irvine, Ca. The Tigers, the tournament's top seed, lost only four points in the three matches en route to the title.

After beating Denver in the first round and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the semi-finals, the Tigers picked up their fifth conference win without a defeat in the win over the Golden Eagles. The Tigers won their first two matches by 6-1 scores.
